Respite Care
Being a round-the-clock caregiver for someone can be overwhelming for anyone. It’s hard to find time to run errands, rest, or attend to other personal and social needs. Studies show that fulltime caregivers are at risk for depression and declining health when personal needs are unmet for too long.
Caregivers who need a break can select respite care at the Grace Barker Nursing Center or the Willows, depending on what is needed. This break can help preserve the primary caregiver’s emotional, mental and physical health.
The same services are available for short-term rehabilitation and respite care residents as those that are available for long-term residents. These include:
- Music, exercise and interactive programs
- Aromatherapy, pet therapy and horticulture (gardening) therapy
- Coordination of medical and laboratory services including on-site visiting lab and x-ray
- On-site podiatry, psychiatric and dental services
- Nursing assessment and RN supervision
- Blood pressure, vital signs, nutrition and weight monitoring
- Medication administration
- Assistance with personal hygiene, nail care and beautician or barber services
- Transportation service and off-site excursions
Residents staying with us for Respite Care have access to all the services and amenities that we provide to long-term residents.
